Anibal Sanchez picks up win number two on the season ( 2-0 ) going 5.2 innings striking out 5 batters, walking 3, giving up 3 earned runs with just 6 hits allowed.

The bullpen did a wonderful job tonight backing Sanchez up giving up just one hit and striking out 4. Two coming from the struggling Bruce Rondon who pitched one whole inning and 10 pitches.

Victor Martinez was the star for the Tigers offense tonight hitting 2 homeruns. Victor totaled 2 hits at 4 at bats getting 3 RBI’s and 2 runs. Mikie Mahtook went 2 for 3 with a triple, Jose Iglesias had a nice game going 2 for 3.

Tonights win improves the Tigers to 44-51 and 5.5 games back from the top of the A.L. Central.

Justin Wilson improves his trade value marking his 11th save striking out 1 and walking 1 on 19 pitches in the ninth inning.
