When: 8:10 PM ET on Wednesday, September 5th

Radio: 97.1 FM the Ticket
DET: Jordan Zimmermann (6-6, 4.22 ERA, 94 K)
CHW: Michael Kopech (1-0, 0.82 ERA, 9 K)
Jordan Zimmermann is slated to start his 21st game of the season, while Michael Kopech of the White Sox is set to pitch in the show for the fourth time and second against Detroit.
This pitching matchup was on display in Detroit on Sunday, August 26th, when the Tigers retired Alan Trammell’s No. 3 during the pregame ceremony.
Zimmermann took the loss as Kopech collected his first win as a big leaguer that afternoon.
In Zimmermann’s most recent outing, he pitched against the Yankees in the Bronx, allowing just one earned run in six innings of work with six strikeouts.
Kopech, for the second time, had his start shortened due to rain.
The 22-year-old right-hander tossed three scoreless innings at home against the Red Sox.
Unfortunate for Kopech, rain is in the forecast, again.
Currently, there is an 80% chance of rain for the seven o’clock hour and a 50% chance of rain throughout the rest of the evening.
Chicago will want to get this one as the White Sox have had Zimmermann’s number since the right-hander arrived in Motown. Collectively, active hitters for the Sox are batting .353 (40-for-113) against Zimmermann.
Stay tuned for potential updates on tonight’s game. We’ll provide you with those as they come.
