Game Preview

A battle of two teams that are in rebuilds begins tonight. The Tigers and White Sox are in 3rd and 4th place respectively in the AL Central. Both teams are trying to get a look at some of their younger players in hopes of seeing what they have for 2019. The teams are not going to make the playoffs so its the perfect opportunity to give an extended look at some guys they think could stick.

The Tigers have had little consistency in their starting rotation this year and that means that Artie Lewicki is going to be making his third start of the year tonight. The first two starts came against the Indians and the results were not pretty. He will look to bounce back against the team below the Tigers in the AL Central, the Chigcago White Sox.

This would have been Jacob Turner’s spot in the rotation but he had a terrible outing against the Angels that bought him a ticket to Triple-A after he was DFA’d.

This game could turn into a slug-fest as both starters have ERAs over 4.

That could be what the Tigers need because they have been in an offensive funk since the All-Star break and haven’t showed signs of coming out of it anytime soon. That may be a product of all of the shuffling that they are doing as some of their key players hit the disabled list. It seems as though every night Gardenhire has different players in the lineup and in different positions in the lineup.

The White Sox will hope that Lewicki is ineffective again as a starter so they can get a win. They have some guys that can hit the ball out of the park in Palka and Abreu so it will be key to keep them in the stadium.
