The Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox match up for the final game in Detroit on Alan Trammell Day. In a pregame ceremony the Tigers will retire the number of long time shortstop Trammell, who helped the team win the 1984 World Series, as he was named World Series MVP.

The game will be the final time the White Sox will pay visit to Comerica Park for the season. The next time the Tigers will see the White Sox is in Chicago is during the first week of September.

The Tigers will face rookie Michael Kopech for the first time, as he will make his second start after his debut was cut short by rain. On the other hand, Jordan Zimmerman is coming off of a start against the Cubs where he held them to one run over six innings.

The Tigers will now try and split the series as they have lost the last two giving up six runs each of the last two nights.
