What: ROH / NJPW “War of the Worlds” Tour

When: Saturday, May 12th at 7:00 PM EST

Where: Royal Oak Music Theatre in Royal Oak, MI

TV: ROH Honor Club Streaming Service

New Venue

The stars of two of the most prominent pro wrestling promotions, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring of Honor, come together every year for a series of shows titled the “War of the Worlds.” After having previous shows on their Michigan tour stops at the Ford Community Arts Center in Dearborn, they have now switched venues and will be holding this year’s event at the Royal Oak Music Theatre.

Dream Matches

The show is highlighted by two dream matches. In the main event, the ROH tag team titles will be on the line as ROH veterans and current champs The Briscoes take on Los Ingobernables de Japon members Tetsuya Naito and Bushi. After a spectacular 2017 highlighted by winning the NJPW G1 tournament, Tetsuya Naito began 2018 by main eventing at the Tokyo Dome in New Japans’s biggest show. However, Naito was unsuccessful against reigning heavyweight champion, Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom. He then set his sights on the Intercontinental title, and at Wrestling Hinokuni on April, 29th Naito defeated Minoru Suzuki to win the IC belt. The Los Ingobernables leader will look to add another championship on Saturday night

In another highly anticipated matchup “The American Nightmare” Cody takes on Hiromu Takahashi. After leaving WWE in 2016, Cody has been on an incredible run in both ROH and NJPW. He is currently involved in one of the best wrestling angles we have seen in years as he has battled with Kenny Omega for the leadership of the Bullet Club. The legendary feud has played out for over a year across the globe and in two promotions. The conflict between the megastars came to a head at Supercard of honor on April 7th of this year. Cody was able to defeat Omega in a singles match after fellow Bullet Club members The Young Bucks “accidentally” double superkicked Omega which allowed “The American Nightmare” to earn the pinfall. The victory cemented Cody as one of the top heels in the business. He will look to continue his string of success as he faces former NJPW Junior Heavyweight Champion, Hiromu Takahashi.
