Defended Their Title

The Taiwanese Junior LLWS team was able to defeat Texas 2-0 in a terrific pitching duel and brought their overall record to 4-0 while Texas fell to 4-1. The team from Taoyuan Taiwan won their sixth straight Junior LLWS title which was their 7th overall. It is currently the longest winning streak in Junior LLWS title history and faced a team from Lufkin Texas that prove to be their toughest challenge today.

Background On The Junior LLWS

The Junior LLWS is the ‘older brother” of the LLWS and players age 13-15 participate in this tournament every year at Heritage Park in Taylor Michigan since 1981. The Junior LLWS has only 12 regions take part and like the LLWS, they have a US and International team face each in the World Championship game. The last six champions have been from Taiwan, four from the city of Taoyuan and two from the city of Taichung.

Will Taiwan Be Defeated In The Junior LLWS?

Barring a collapse from the Taiwanese Junior LLWS program, expect them to defend the Junior LLWS title every year. The score (excluding today’s results) from the past five years since 2013 are 11-2, 9-1, 12-0, 9-1 and 12-1. That is a combined score of 53-5 and if the US cannot field a team that can take down the team from Asia-Pacific, the score will continue to get more and more lopsided.
