Early Monday morning Rod Wood of the Detroit Lions reached out to Calvin Johnson to begin repairing the relationship between the Lions organization and their former Pro Bowl Receiver Calvin Johnson. Just weeks prior to Calvin opening up on a few other determining factors on why Johnson’s sudden departure from the game and organization CJ loved so much. Most notably his uncertainty that the Detroit Lions had no chance at being a Super Bowl contender at the time.

Rod Wood stated Monday morning on WJR-760 A local Detroit radio station that the Lions had in fact invited arguably one of the greatest Receivers of all time, and without a doubt to ever suit up in Honolulu Blue to Training Camp. Wood was quoted saying ” Hopefully he shows up. We want Calvin in the tent, not outside the tent” Rod  made it clear in the interview that the Lions organization never intended for the bad blood to boil over or having Ill feelings on either side when Johnson considered joining another team, When The Detroit Lions shot down any proposal or consideration of releasing Calvin Johnson’s contract.

Hopefully this is the start of a new beginning for the club and CJ, Considering Johnson holds nearly Every receiving record in Detroit Lions History. There’s no denying MEGATRON was a fan favorite in his 9 year stint with the Lions before his retirement and to some still is a Detroit Lions Die Hard Fan bases most beloved Lion. Needless to say, I too would love to see Calvin Johnson at camp, I would even go as far as suggesting to the Detroit Lions organization to extend an even better offer and bring CJ back into a Receivers coach or consultant. That is if Calvin and the club can move on and do away with they’re differences.
