Preview

After a walk-off loss yesterday the Tigers are turning to Francisco Liriano to get back into the win column. They looked like they were going to get a win yesterday after Victor Martinez hit a go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth but Greene couldn’t hold the lead. He gave up a home run to Palka and then the game-winner to Davidson.

The Tigers bats were relatively quiet against Lopez so they will look to heat up tonight against Giolito. They are in a park that allows a lot of home runs, so hopefully, they can connect when runners are on base.

After the bad outing from Shane Greene yesterday, Gardenhire should look to give him a blow tonight and let him get past it.

The White Sox are going to look to get the Tigers starter out of the game early and get to the bullpen that has been used a fair amount over the last five games. If they can get to Liriano early and make him throw a lot of pitches, they could see the bullpen and work against their tired arms.

The White Sox have played well lately, and that has come at the Tigers expense as they have been passed in the standings. That may make some Tigers fans unhappy, but at this point in the season, draft position is a very real conversation. With that being said, both teams are going to look to be competitive the rest of the season.
