Preview

The Tigers are onto the second stop of their long nine game road trip, and that brings them to Chicago to do battle with the White Sox. It is a three-game series, and the White Sox have played better as of late, recently taking 3 out of 4 from the Tigers.

This will be Michael Fulmer’s second start against the White Sox since returning from the disabled list at the end of August. He looked sharp against the White Sox the last time they faced each other but his night was done after 4 2/3 innings as he reached a pre-determined pitch count.

Fulmer needs to have a bounce back start after getting shelled by the Royals five days ago. The White Sox could be the opponent that he needs to get back on track.

The White Sox have been playing better as of late, and that has seen them come into this series with an identical record as the Tigers (55-82). They have a lineup full of players that can take you deep and change the complexion of a game with one swing of the bat.

The young hitters for the Tigers showed some promise in the series against the Yankees with Victor Reyes having a four hit game that included his first major league homer. Dawel Lugo had a couple of three hit games. Rodriguez has also looked better since he changed his stance.

Nick Castellanos has absolutely abused White Sox pitching this season to the tune of an average above .350. Look for that to continue into this game and series.

They are going to need to bring those hot bats with them to Chicago so they can capture the victory on Labor Day. They need that same life that they had against the Yankees to carry over into this series and the rest of the season so they can finish strong and with a good taste in their mouths.
