As we get deeper in the NHL Draft we see more USHL prospects picked. The first prospect picked from your Red Wings is Kasper Kotkansolo , the 6’2 , 198 pound left handed defenseman from the Sioux Falls Stampede.

Kotkansalo a Finnish defenseman didn’t produce much this season while manning the blue line in herd county , but that wasn’t his job. Kasper is a defensive player, so scoring isn’t his goal when he steps on the ice.

Kasper who I personally seen play was a very elite defenseman for the Stampede. He led them in plus minus with 12 , which isn’t bad for a team that struggled last season.

The Boston University commit will enter the Boston program next season as an already NHL drafted defenseman. He has to play well next season and gain some weight to be NHL ready, and go from college to pro.

Along with being injured last season, and now being drafted by a franchise like the Wings , Kasper will look to produce more , and lead his team and school to a national championship.
