I’m back everyone. After a nice vacation, we come back to some interesting movie news. Let’s get into it, shall we?
Ant-Man and the Wasp stood tall at the box office this weekend. The Marvel film added $76 million more to the Disney coffers. It’s projected to have the lowest box office take for an MCU movie, which puts a third Ant-Man movie in question. Come back tomorrow for my review of the film.
HOUSE OF CARDS
By now most people know that Kevin Spacey has been fired by the hit Netflix show because of sexual assault allegations. Spacey starred as Frank Underwood for the first five seasons of the show.
The six season of the show will focus on Robin Wright’s character, who became president the season five finale. Wright appeared on the Today show this morning to talk about the future of the show and to open up about Kevin Spacey. According to Wright they didn’t know each other personally, just professionally.
The final season of House of Cards will release at the end of 2018.
BIRDS OF PREY
The female-led DC movie will begin filming in January and there are rumors that Batgirl will not be a part of it. This could mean that the movie will take a comic book accurate approach and set this movie after the events of The Killing Joke where Gordon was crippled.
If that’s the case, then you could appear as Oracle, the computer hacker who assists the other women.
This seems to suggest that we aren’t getting a batgirl standalone film anytime soon either.
David Chase has signed a deal with Warner Brothers to bring a feature film set in the Soprano’s universe to the big screen.
The film will take place in the 1960s. It’s set during the Newark riots which pitted black gang members against Italian mafia.
The script is written, but there’s no word as to who from the original series might make an appearance. Obviously most of the cast would have been children during this time period, but Uncle Junior and a few others seem like obvious candidates.
STAR WARS RUMOR
Finally, I leave you with a completely unsubstantiated rumor that I came across. This is apparently from a good source inside LucasFilm, but I can’t vouch for the accuracy of this.
A source tells us that J.J. Abrams, and the rest of the team behind Episode IX have toyed with the idea of revealing Snoke as Darth Plagueis.
There’s no word as to whether or not Snoke would somehow be back or if he would be some kind of dark force ghost.
That is all the news for today. Join us tomorrow for that Ant-Man review and come back every day for more silliness.
