The Michigan Wolverines will be holding an open practice at the Big House this Sunday from 6-7pm. This is something that we haven’t seen under Harbaugh to this point. They will be six days from the opening game of their season against Notre Dame.
The open practice could be serving as a replacement for the spring game that was rained out earlier in the year before they went to Italy. This, in a way is better because at that time we didn’t know if Shea Patterson was going to be eligible to play this season and now, Harbaugh has already named him the starter against Notre Dame.
There are a couple of positions that are still up for grabs and this practice could give us a good idea who is going to be the starter, at least against Notre Dame. The positions include left tackle and the weak side linebacker. There have been many names floated around for those positions but there could be some separation that the coaches and players havent let us know about.
This will be the first look that the fans are going to be getting of the players as they have transformed their bodies under the new strength coach Ben Herbert. The players have all raved about the results they have gotten. They should be faster and stronger than last season and that is a scary thought.
If you go to the practice, kids and their families will be permitted to run around on the field after the practice for 30 minutes. The coaches and players will not be available for autographs.
