While being sent to Arizona to join the Diamondbacks for the remainder of the season. Fan loved Martinez posted a collage of images on his best moments with Detroit with a note stating:

With mixed emotions I want to thank the Tigers fans for all of your support — You guys made it fun to come to the field everyday. I am eternally grateful for Al Avila, Brad Ausmus and the Ilitch family for taking a chance on me 4-years ago. They believed in me and gave me an opportunity when others wouldn’t. Detroit and the Tigers will always have a special place in my heart. Detroit will forever be my home away from home. I will miss you all!
— J.D. Martinez

In the 4-years Martinez has been with the Tigers, he hasn’t been anything but consistent. Batting an average of .300 this young man has given Detroit and the fans something to cheer about.

During his open interview with reporters, Martinez leaves the return to Detroit open on the table. These kind of deals are common. Especially with teams who aren’t looking to make the playoffs, you sell to teams who are in hopes to getting prospects for your future. With that said, we can only hope and pray this 4 time AL Player of The Week returns to Detroit to continue his legacy and career with fans who truly appreciate and love him.

Best of luck J.D.
