The Tomas Tatar news has gotten out and he has rejected a 5 year deal totaling 25 million dollars. The Slovakian forward who has played very well these past years with the Grand Rapids Griffins and now the Wings wants a longer contract.

Tatar is wanting close to a 7-year contract reports say and this isn’t good . Cap space for the wings is very slim and they are still looking to sign Athanasiou to a contract.

Ken Holland is in trouble right now with this Tatar contract and we might be seeing Tatar one last year if he takes this to arbitration. Tatar is worth all 5 million and maybe more, try and give terms to our most consistant player , and trade maybe Howard to relive cap. We have a long time till October but not so long till maybe Tatar brings this to the courts.

Hogwash! Tatar as good as Tyler Johnson is at Tampa Bay? I don’t think so. Yes, he scored the most on a very poor team. He also is a giveaway machine. He is down as much as he is up. Takes a high number of shots .. high, low, blocked in front .. some will go in. His passes are errant and his lone man rushes across the blue line usually are for nothing. Nope, I don’t see $5 million x 5 years there. $3.5 or $4 mill for 3 years top, maybe .. but that’s it. Don’t cave in Kenny! I usually hate your decisions but I’m with you on this one. Let him walk and give Svechnikov a spot.
