The Detroit Tigers (18-22) take on the Cleveland Indians (20-20) tonight in Game 2 of a three-game series. The Tigers were victorious yesterday thanks to a solid start by Mike Fiers and a great night offensively by Niko Goodrum. Fiers got the win allowing just one run and three hits in six innings, while Goodrum added a two-run home run and a three-run homer to his batting average. Detroit had lost 11 straight games to the Indians before yesterday’s win. The W pulls the Tigers within two games of Cleveland and just half a game out of second place in the AL Central.

The Tigers hope to extend their three-game win streak as LHP Fransisco Liriano (3-1, 3.35 ERA) takes the mound against RHP Josh Tomlin (0-4, 8.06 ERA). Tomlin’s best outing of the year came against the Tigers on April 10 when he pitched five scoreless innings in a 2-1 victory over Detroit. Tomlin is 7-6 with a 4.87 ERA in 17 career outings against the Tigers. Liriano’s only loss this season came against the Indians when he gave up two runs and three hits in a 2-0 loss the day before on April 9. Liriano is 5-7 with a 4.11 ERA in 21 career games against the Tribe.
