On June 15th the Michigan Senator Coleman Young introduced a bill  to Michigan state legislature that would Honor Detroit Sports Tycoon And Little Caesar’s Pizza Empire founder Mike Illitch . The Bill would Rename a few blocks of Woodward Ave in the Heart of Downtown Detroit Between Montcalm St and E. Adams Ave. Mike Illitch Blvd. The bill is being reviewed by The State of Michigan’s transportation committee.

One of the most beloved sport’s owners to ever Invest into the city of Detroit was sadly taken from us in February at the age of 87. Mr. I was the proud owner of the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers and the Fox Theater. Since his passing, The City and it’s fans have been hard at work to honor one of the most humble Sport’s owners in the history of any sport nation wide.

With Mike’s Final vision The District only months away from being completed the renaming of the section of Woodward Ave couldn’t have come at a better time. Or Place for that matter. Coincidentally runs along the blocks actually owned by Mr I himself. With Comerica Park Home of the Detroit Tigers and the Fox Theater both run along the soon to be renamed Mike Illitch Blvd . Just blocks away from the soon to be new home of The Detroit Red Wings at the start of the 2017-18 season Little Caesars Arena, Arguably one of if not the most state of the art arena’s in all of sports.

MR. I Forever changed the culture of sports in the City of Detroit. And now when you are walking up to the Ball Park or just on a stroll through one of America’s Best Sports towns across the country, Mike Illitch will Forever be in our Hearts and minds as we look up to cross Mike Illitch Blvd, Memories of Watching MR.I Raising the Stanley Cup and the visions of his smile after winning the American League Pennant will Forever be engraved in the streets of Down Town Detroit.

R.I.P MR I GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN
