Trevor Daley is set to hit the free agency market July 1st. Many teams have been taking interest in him. It’s said that both Detroit and Boston have taken interest. Detroit is making Daley their top defenseman to gain.
Daley recently just won back-to-back Stanley cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He averaged over 20 mins of ice time.
Daley is 33 years old and would add depth to Detroit’s aging blue line, with Niklas Kronwall at 36 years old, Jonathan Ericsson at 33 years old, and Mike Green at 31 years old. Then add Danny DeKeyser in the mix at 27 years old who is locked up for 5 more seasons with a cap hit of $5 million a season.
With Daley having a cap hit of $3.3 per year in his previous deal could potentially receive a raise. With Brendan Smith and Kris Russel both inking contracts of $4 million or more per year.
